Henry and Ribsy was the funnest book so far of the Henry Huggins series。 A lot of exciting adventures and the kids were on the edge of their seats during many chapters。

Henry is back to being pleasant! If you were disappointed in the last book, you know, because Henry had decided to hate hanging out with girls, including his pal Beezus; well you are in for some relief with this book as he's back to normal for this book。Henry's big goal for this book is to keep Ribsy well-behaved enough to get to go on a salmon fishing trip with his father and Mr。 Grumbie。 Ramona causes some hijinks, Henry gets to start hauling out the trash and gets a not-so-awesome haircut fro Henry is back to being pleasant! Delightful book。 Read this book to Heidi and we both loved it and laughed out loud。 Beverly Cleary gets kids。 She is brilliant and capturing their thoughts and ideas。

Erin Holt

These books are such a sweet, classic series of books。 Onto the next with my seven year old!

Jordan Grieve

Not as good as the Ramona books but always fun to time travel back into the 50s。

Cindy Sheppard Gidge

Funny and easy to relate for kids (and adults too)

Read as part of my Beverly Cleary author study。 Illustrations by Louis Darling。 I didn’t remember as much about this book, though it was definitely a re-read for me。 There is something calm and cozy about Henry’s life that is like an escape for me。 I love how small things become adventures for Henry, like riding up in the car while the mechanic works on it。tIn this book, Henry had a long-term goal of keeping Ribsy out of trouble so Henry could go on a fishing trip with his dad。 I appreciate the Read as part of my Beverly Cleary author study。 Illustrations by Louis Darling。 I didn’t remember as much about this book, though it was definitely a re-read for me。 There is something calm and cozy about Henry’s life that is like an escape for me。 I love how small things become adventures for Henry, like riding up in the car while the mechanic works on it。tIn this book, Henry had a long-term goal of keeping Ribsy out of trouble so Henry could go on a fishing trip with his dad。 I appreciate the reality of how Henry works to achieve this goal and then how the fishing trip actually plays out in the end。 。。。more

Fun read aloud book about a boy and his dog。 Mostly episodic with a loose overall narrative。

Read to Isabel: cute but not as good as the other installments。

Ava liked this book。 Her favorite part was when Henry went fishing。 I think she also really liked the part where Ramona was pretending a lunch box was a camera (Ava began playing with her lunch box as a camera too) and put Ribsy’s bone in the lunch box。

The scene is set for boredom in this reading level 5。4 book that starts with the family listening to the radio。 Henry is not charismatic。 Ribsy is an unremarkable dog。 Cameo appearances by Beezus and Ramona add some levity, but not enough to counter the book's dullness。 The scene is set for boredom in this reading level 5。4 book that starts with the family listening to the radio。 Henry is not charismatic。 Ribsy is an unremarkable dog。 Cameo appearances by Beezus and Ramona add some levity, but not enough to counter the book's dullness。 。。。more

HiimreviewmanAmazing book this one of one of the BEST books I’ve EVER read Beverly Clearly makes the best book I have ever seen。 😃

Sarah

Ellie and I have been slowly working our way through all of Cleary’s books。 Some is dated, but it’s fascinating how much still holds a kid’s attention these days。

Claire Wang

I liked to see henry catch the fish by hand。

Daniel

Read aloud to Daniel during his 5th grade year。 A fun classic from my childhood! a boy and his dog。 Gotta love that kind of story!

Brandon

A boy and his dog。 Taking care of dogs makes you a better person, as this fun and entertaining story clearly demonstrates。 This is s great book for kids and dog lovers。

Henry wants to go fishing with his dad。 The catch he can only go if Ribsy behaves himself and they get no complaints about him。 Highlights include Henry's parents giving him a haircut which reminded me of stories from my dad and his brothers when my grandpa cut their hair because he didn't want to spend the money。 Ribsy also develops a hatred for the garbage man which was funny。 Ribsy sort of reminds me of my childhood dog Cloud who often ran away and got into mischief。 Ramona is still a horribl Henry wants to go fishing with his dad。 The catch he can only go if Ribsy behaves himself and they get no complaints about him。 Highlights include Henry's parents giving him a haircut which reminded me of stories from my dad and his brothers when my grandpa cut their hair because he didn't want to spend the money。 Ribsy also develops a hatred for the garbage man which was funny。 Ribsy sort of reminds me of my childhood dog Cloud who often ran away and got into mischief。 Ramona is still a horrible brat but it's still a fun story of childhood even if Henry isn't as much fun as Ramona。 。。。more
